Economy Ministry official highlights Georgia’s energy policy at Int’l Renewable Energy Agency Assembly

Margalita Arabidze, the Head of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Policy and Sustainable Development Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Economy, highlighted the country’s energy policy at the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency, hosted in the United Arab Emirates between Tuesday and Thursday.

The Ministry said on Friday the event discussed mechanisms for promoting the development of renewable energy, transformation of the energy sector, training and retraining of qualified workforce, promotion of green hydrogen production, use of renewable energy in the transport sector, and development of sustainable bioenergy and biofuel.

Arabidze, who led the Georgian delegation at the Assembly, delivered a report on the country’s actions in clean energy development, and noted increasing energy security and sustainable utilisation of local renewable energy such as hydro, wind, solar and green hydrogen were “priority areas” of the state’s energy policy.

She also highlighted the IRENA's ongoing technical support, used to prepare a “complex report” on readiness for the introduction of renewable energy.
